International sports broadcasting specialist ESPN has emerged as the production partner of CANOC Broadcasting Inc (CBI), the company formed by Caribbean region National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) in an innovative move to buy regional broadcasting rights for Rio 2016 and other sporting properties.
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) today concludes its sixth and final Coordination Commission (CoCom) meeting in Glasgow, overviewing progress towards the XX Commonwealth Games to be staged in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 3 August 2014.
Following discussions with the International Olympic Committee, the SVGOC has a new look and logo which would serve as the organisation's brand going forward.
The new look also comes in the wake of the election of a new executive following elections in September 2013.
In the previous Column carried in The News newspaper dated Friday 8 November 2013 mention was made of the 10th anniversary of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) and of the occasion of its 11th General Assembly convened on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands on Tuesday 5 November 2013.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded the broadcast rights in the Caribbean to the CANOC Broadcasting Inc. (CBI) for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2016).
